I’m incredibly grateful to Dr. Colin Hong for his amazing work. In early June 2025, he performed a very complex facial skin graft reconstruction after squamous cell carcinoma was removed from the inner corner of my eye — a very delicate area that requires exceptional skill. Dr. Hong handled it with great care and expertise. Six months later, the results are outstanding. The surgical traces are barely noticeable, far better than I ever expected. I’m truly happy with the outcome. The staff at Dr. Hong’s clinic are also wonderful — professional, kind, and genuinely caring throughout the entire process. I felt well supported at every step. Thank you, Dr. Hong, for your skill and compassion. I highly recommend him.

I required a minor surgery that necessitated out-of-pocket payment. My family doctor referred me to Dr. Hong in the first place. However, as someone in academia, I conducted exhaustive research on plastic surgeons in the GTA--analyzing RateMDs, Reddit, Google reviews, clinic websites, and CPSO records (also other related websites that came up along my research process)—before making my final decision. I not only analyzed the ratings, but also deep-dived into each review for truthfulness and relevance to wait times, personality, skills, years of practice, and reasons for compliments/complaints. After completing my consultation, surgery, and follow-up, I can now provide a detailed perspective on the experience. The Medical Team & Care * Communication: The entire team is fluent in both English and Cantonese, which made communication seamless. I had used both languages for oral and written communications. * Work ethics: They worked with patients even after standard work hours/days if needed to. One example was that I saw them still working with two more groups of patients when I finished my surgery at 5:30 pm. The team also worked in a flexible manner (I arrived early on my third visit, and the nurse removed my stitches earlier than the actual appointment time). * The nursing staff: The nurses (pre-, during and post-op) were particularly skilled at noticing/easing my anxiety, answering my questions that were triggered by the process, noticing my needs even when I did not ask, and staying focused on the tasks when inputting/checking data on computers and removing my stitches. I also received a follow-up call after the lab result came out and got further suggestions on how to take care of the surgical site. * The administrative staff: From the initial booking to follow-up, every interaction was professional and empathetic. They answered my questions in detail related to bookings, normal process, payment methods and normal waiting time. They answered my questions promptly (even answered the questions I asked on Saturday). I also appreciated their frank explanation of the reason why my follow-up time needed to be changed, which I appreciated. They also set up my appointments when other patients cancelled theirs, which I also very much appreciated. The Doctor’s Approach Dr. Hong is exceptionally efficient and "to the point." During my consultation, he used clear analogies to explain my condition so I understood the medical situation instantly, and he effectively answered my questions before I even had to ask them. I found him to be observant and respectful; he immediately noticed my hesitation regarding the surgery and encouraged me to take my time with the decision rather than pushing for a procedure. Before the surgery, he warmly reminded me that the injection needles might cause a bit of pain before he injected the medication. During the surgery, he explained what his observations were, asked me questions and answered mine. Ultimately, he is a surgeon who gets the job done. Wait Times & Logistics Prospective patients should be prepared for a wait. * Wait Times: My first visit was a 20-30 minute wait (I arrived ~10 minutes early), but my second (surgical) visit involved a 2.5-hour delay (I arrived ~20 minutes early). Speaking with other patients who were there on that day, this appeared to be a common occurrence. My third visit was about 15 minutes earlier than the actual appointment time (I arrived ~15 minutes early). * Parking: The lot is quite small. On snowy days, be prepared to find street parking in the nearby neighbourhood (I Googled before I drove there.) Final Thoughts I prioritized clinical competence— a doctor who "gets the job done and done well” over purely social "bedside manner." I also valued supportive nursing staff over a perfectly punctual schedule (after all, it is a medical practice, and every patient has unique medical needs that require the doctor's individual care). I highly recommend this office, and thank you to everyone I met in my process.

Hi Dr. Hong, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the truly exceptional care you and your staff have provided. You are, without exaggeration my hero. I am deeply grateful to have you in my corner battling Dupuytren's Contracture,Which is an insidious and potentially debilitating disease. You have performed three surgeries on my hand, and your efforts have been instrumental in preventing the disease from progressing and keeping at bay. As a professional-level guitar player who has been playing 90% of my life, the thought that this disease could take that away has been terrifying.Your dedication has truly made a difference in preserving my ability to play. Thank you Dr. Hong!.. If i could, a million star Google rating is what you would have and deserve to have!!(: JoeT

Going in I was expecting a long wait, a stressful time (based on why I had to be there, not anything to do with them) In my area, there are no dermatologists or skin cancer drs that have room for new patients. So through an OHIP referral, I found myself traveling 2 hours to Toronto for this appointment. When I walked in and went to the front desk, I was met with a smile that put me at ease. My appointment time was for 1:30 pm, I arrived at 1:20 pm and I was in a surgical suite by 1:28 pm. So there was definitely no longer wait. The lovely nurse ( I am so sorry, I didn't get her name) took me to the room and we went over the concerning lesions that Dr.Hong was going to observe. When Dr. Hong came in, he had a lovely young student shadowing him and observating, they asked if I was OK with him being there and there was no question in my mind. If we want good and experienced drs, we need to allow them access to patients. Dr. Hong looked over the lesions and scolded me (nicely but also rightfully as the majority of the issues on why I was there were my fault in neglecting my own health) on getting too much sun and the importance of using sunscreen (i am horrible at remembering to do my own after I do the kids) and reminded me the dangers of not using, which was already apparent, hence why I was there. After making his observations, noting my lesions, he made a game plan for what he was doing today and what the future plan would be and with that the freezing began. He explained the entire process from start to finish, circling the lesions, freezing the lesions, waiting for full freezing to take effect, taking pictures of the lesions and measuring them, removing the ones that needed to be removed and making sure removed the entire thing no matter how deep he needed to go in to the skin and tissue. He then stitched the areas and walked me through the after care and maintenence. During this, he was also explaining the process to the student, while also talking to me about my life and showing interest in me as a person, not just a patient he just met. He explained that all the stitches in my face needed to be removed after 1 week and all the stitches in my leg needed to be removed in 2 weeks, he also knew how far I traveled to be there that day and told me that if I could find a walk in clinic down here, I was welcome to have my stitches removed here to assist with not having to travel so far and so often. He is even doing my follow up via video. From the moment I walked in to the time I left every fear I had was eased, every question I has was answered. I came home feeling beyond confident in the care I received and it made me wonder. If this is the high standard of care I received as an OHIP patient, I can only assume that when you walk in that door, how much money you have or don't have, or what procedure you're having done, it doesn’t matter them, they genuinely care about every person who walks in that door and have a high standard of care. Dr. Hong and crew, you're amazing and and I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars. Until we meet again. THANK YOU.

I have been referred to Dr. Hong to treat keloid. It has been almost two years since I first started treatment. I have removed cyst with him, the stitch opened 3 hours later after I went home (just watched movie at home, did not do any exercise). I had to visit emergency to put two stitch back on again. The girl from the check in desk always shows cold face, sounds like she hates to work at this clinic, not friendly at all. Nurse Stella is very nice, she is the one who always provides keloid injection. The overall experience is very mediocre because every time patient would wait at least 30 minutes longer than the actual appointment time. Parking is also limited, because staff parking occupied half of the parking lot. They also triple book me for appointments I have never made before, causing them calling me to double confirm for cancellation.
