I don't usually leave bad reviews. However, I'm so floored by the lack of professionalism that I feel like I have to. First of all, this is NOT the Barbarella it was last year, or even six months ago. This is a REBRANDED Barbarella, as they'll tell you. They new folks have already let go of the interior decor. It looks run down. They're converting it into a nail school, in case you're wondering. I'd advise anybody to NOT GO because they WILL try to rip you off, they WILL show a lack of professionalism, and you can get better quality for the same price elsewhere. They're riding this NEW BUSINESS off the name and reputation of what ONCE WAS. Beware. I went for a haircut and blowout. Perfect results, exactly what I wanted. Zero issues there. I originally had an appointment on Monday afternoon at 5pm. A last minute emergency came up with work. I called to reschedule, hopefully to 6pm - I got "this number is currently not assigned". Okay, cool. A little weird for a salon that charges over $100 for a cut and blowout, but no problem. Messaged the stylist on Instagram and asked if I could come at 6pm or another day. Left on seen. But I can understand that, because she's not a receptionist. I get a call back, this time from the receptionist, Nancy. She proceeds to tell me that she saw what time I called (but the number is unassigned?) and that she was next to the stylist as she was reading my DMs. Nancy THEN tells me that this is my second no-show this year, the first being in January 2025. Keep in mind, I was JUST at the salon two months (May 2025) ago for the same service, and there was no mention of a no-show, or a no-show fee. She then informs me that I'll have to pay TWO NO-SHOW fees if I wanna keep my appointment. To which I ask her, "why was the first no-show fee not charged at the last appointment?" The receptionist says that she doesn't know and can't control the actions of her colleagues. This is where things get really ghetto. Because from the looks of things INSIDE THE SALON, they're clearly struggling to make a buck. I decided, despite the red flags, to keep the appointment (because I liked the hairstylist). I specifically said on the phone, "if I have to pay it I'll pay it, because I don't really want anybody else touching my hair". BIG mistake to keep the appointment. I sit in the chair, and the first words out of the stylist's mouth is that she will be ceasing her operations at Barbarella in the very near future. Which Nancy knew on the phone, when I explained my situation. So... the entire purpose of accepting the unprofessional, unexplainable first no-show fee, and the second no-show fee, was purposeless. Because if I knew I'd need to start seeing a new hairstylist after this very appointment, I wouldn't have accepted. And again, Nancy was well aware of this. All of this to say, they're GRASPING AT STRAWS trying to make what little money they can. They have very clearly fallen on hard times. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS AND JUST GO ELSEWHERE. Lastly, a note for Nancy, and the owners, and the "new administration": if you want clients that can AFFORD YOUR SERVICES, you need to understand that your clients might have DEMANDING JOBS, and they may need to actually work late once in a while! Shocker, I know. Maybe try to market yourselves better so you don't need to rob your clients with fictitious no-show fees. A complaint was filed with the consumer protection bureau of Quebec 🩷

Loved Barbarella! The cleanest salon and bonus points when I saw the floor being mopped after each pedicure. Single pedicure basins that can be cleaned rather than those nasty chairs with tubs attached. Friendly down to earth staff so you feel comfortable and not out of place. My nail tech chatted when I wanted to and was quiet when I wanted to chill and not chat without feeling awkward at all. This isn't one of those salons where the staff speak to eachother while you sit there not knowing what they are saying. Good music that's puts out just the right atmosphere. The salon aesthetics is on point. Everything is carefully thought out right down to the slippers at the front door. My manicure and pedicure is the best I've had in many years. I'll never go anywhere else from now on.

I'll start off by saying this is not my usual salon. I typically get my nails done elsewhere but my usual place was booked so I came here as its close to home. I've been here a few times the manicures/pedicures and previously the result has never been amazing but it did the job in a pinch (my cuticles never looked all that great after manicures here and often the whole gel overlay would pop off one of my nails after a week of wear). However the reason I'm leaving this review is because this time the results were TERRIBLE. Not only did the gel over lay "pop" off in 1 week on one of my nail and on one of my toenails but when I went to my usual place to redo my nail (2 weeks after my manicure here) there was MOULD on two of my nails. My usual tech is confident that its because there was some lifting in my gel overlay that was not removed by the barberella tech and instead more overly was just added on top creating an air bubble which water seeped into and eventually caused the mould to grow. Very very disappointed. Its not too clear in the photos but the middle finger you can see a brown patch of mould and on the thumb a green spot of mould.

Never disappointed whenever I come here. Had some really nice designs done for halloween. Really talented nail techs. You can be sure to show them anything and they can match it to perfection. They also don’t use fake nails but build the sets using gel which is very rare. Most places like to just take the shortcut. Never disappointed!
