Ageless Japanese Head Spa & Wellness Vancouver in Vancouver

I won a $100 giftcard through one of their instagram giveaways, and was really excited to come in and experience their headspa that I had seen all over my instagram! Booked the headspa/hot stone treatment during one of their special offers for Jan at $115, but was told the special didn't extend to Jan (even though I was able to book it) and that it needed to be for Dec. That's fine, rebooked, but now it was $119, and wouldn't honor the original price. I prepaid $20, expecting to pay $105 there, with the $100 giftcard deduction, making it $5 owed. The experience was really lovely and overall relaxing. Firstly I loved that the towel they gave had snaps not velcro, it fit my size 16 body without unwrapping! Great start. No discussion of my hair type and no customization offered like the description said. Hot stone chest massage was lovely and I loved the peppermint oil! I did wish there was more neck/shoulder attention but the chest/arm attention was really nice. There was no steam like described, but the warm water feature across your forehead was amazing, i loved that! The warm eye cover was a very nice touch, and I loved the use of the hot towels. I would say there is more scalp scrubbing/scratching than massage, which still felt lovely, but I did expect more massage to be happening. My scalp does feel very thoroughly clean and washed though and hair is shiney! My biggest critique would be that with all the scrubbing your hair gets very tangled, and I think they're more used to having ladies with straight hair than wavy/curly. They need to get some wet brushes, and I wish they would have used more leave in conditioner and started at the ends working their way up to the roots before going back to roots brushing straight down. It does feel nice brushing the roots, but they need to do the ends fully first so it doesn't get stuck part way. Knots weren't fully brushed out, kept brushing straight from the roots causing pulling and making me worry about breakage. Same with the blowdry, so I felt she was having a bit of a difficult time when drying. It would have been more relaxing if all the knots were thoroughly brushed through first, so the blowdry could have been smoother, gentler and produced a better end result. The neck/shoulder massage was 2 minutes at the very end while I was sitting up in the bed and her up on the table behind me. Great pressure, it was nice, but it felt like was almost forgotten, and quite short. I wish there was more neck and shoulder massage during the actual head spa service instead of quickly after but i loved the ear rubs. I had to ask for a brush to use while I was getting dressed, so I could brush through my hair and get all the tangles out before leaving. I did a custom tip of $5, and was almost charged $25 before correcting them that it should be $10 since I prepaid $20, total was $130 + a $100 gc. She apologized and was very kind, but it did make me feel a bit uncomfortable and not the best end to everything. I would return, but make sure to discuss with them prior about brushing my ends first all the way through before brushing straight from the scalp, so I could get the same experience that I am assuming people with straight/easier less tangle prone hair recieve. I hope my thorough and honest review helps others when deciding to book since it is an expensive treat, and hopefully it helps them to improve their already really great idea/business to be a little more luxury like they advertise themselves to be. This is my second time visiting Ageless hair spa and I always have such a dreamy time. The girls are so skilled and treat me so gently but with such a thorough scalp cleaning! I always end up falling asleep because I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated! I love the calming and colourful lights in the room plus the calming music. Pure zen!!

I was hesitant to leave a 2 star review as I had really high hopes for this place and was really looking forward to my treatment today. Unfortunately, the treatment fell short of my expectations. I had booked the “Relaxing Head Spa Scalp Treatment with Hot Stone”. It was a 60 minute treatment and the website highlighted that it would include: - Gentle Scalp Exfoliation to refresh and renew - Nano Steam Therapy to open pores and enhance absorption - Scalp & Hair Detox Treatment for a purified, refreshed feel - Customized tailored to dry or oily scalp needs - Deep Relaxation Scalp Massage to calm the nervous system - Hot Stone Massage to melt away stress and tension - Neck & Shoulder Massage for complete upper body relief - Water Therapy & ASMR Sound Relaxation for meditative calm - Targeted Repair Treatment for scalp health and hair vitality - Blow-Dry & Water for a mindful grounding finish Unfortunately, my treatment did not include a neck & shoulder massage, ASMR sound relaxation, or a custom tailored hair treatment. I had expected that they would ask me about my hair type prior to the treatment to “customize” the treatment but they did not. I was really looking forward to the neck & shoulder massage which I was disappointed to not get. I found this place on Instagram and all of the videos of their treatments looked awesome but now I’m thinking that you only receive these treatments if you’re an influencer making promotional content for this place. I was hoping this would be my new go-to spot for self care days but after my experience- I’m unsure if I’d give it another try. The staff were very kind and I felt very comfortable there but what they advertise does not match what you receive.

This is one of the best massage experiences I’ve ever had. The environment is so quiet and comfortable, and the entire massage was incredibly relaxing. Every detail is very thoughtful! The service is excellent. I highly recommend trying it yourself!
