Downtown Nails & Lash Studio in Ottawa

This was one of my worst nail experiences. I went over to this place my lunch break at work (usually I go to a spot in Kanata). Instead of wrapping my nails to take the previous dip off, they used their Dremel to sand it completely down to the nail. The person was rushing, hit my skin multiple times until I made her use acetone. I couldn’t count the number of times I said “it’s hot” or “ouch you’re cutting me”. I should’ve walked away after the dip was off, but my nails were so thin after being completely sanded down that I needed something on them to avoid them breaking. After the dip was applied, she sanded them down again so badly that the paint came off, and the nails were left with scratch marks. I get dip done every month and hands downs this was the worst experience. She knew I was unhappy, and still tried to give me one of those “come 6 times and get a discount” card and I had to turn it down 2-3 times before leaving. Worst part is she was training someone. I waited to post this by 3-4 days because that’s how long it took my fingers to heal and not feel so raw!!

frank did my eyelash extensions sooo good!! everything was amazing. super relaxing, good smells in the salon, and a consultation before starting the lashes. frank made sure i was fine with the length and showed me multiple reference pictures. and the lashes were done in 1 hour 20 mins, way faster than other lash techs. will be coming back here.

I've gotten my eyebrows waxed and gel nail removal here, both walk-in. The staff was nice and accommodating both times, and they are quite efficient. Their prices are also pretty good despite being downtown!

Asked for hybrid and they gave me volume. My lashes couldn’t handle the weight and it brought my lashes down and blocked part of my vision. They must not have switched the adhesive between eyes because my first eye still has lashes but the second one they did has been coming off like crazy (and the natural lash is not attached). I also noticed a lot of twisting and upon closer inspection, you can see they are not attached close to the base like they are supposed to. You can see one of them here where it is attached too far from the base (and this was for a lot of them but can only get a good pic of this one). I got my lashes done less than 3 weeks ago and you can see how terrible it is holding up. Usually when I get my lashes done, they last 6 weeks. Also after my session I had to fish out two pieces of paper from my eye from their lash mapping.

I had a pedi, Mani here in November and it was a good experience, relaxing and well well priced (shown last pic) Today, Hailey did a powder nip nail with some fun designs. I showed her I wanted some blue, silver, ombre and Halloween style designs and she did a great job. Very happy and highly recommended! Update had a few mani pedi this summer. All great.
